One thing that is very important i mean detrimental to succeeding at anything in life is desire one must have a genuine desire to attain whatever it is that one is setting out to attain. This desire stems from a deep psychological root, most people realize that they wish to change something about themselves but don't have the desire so they sabotage themselves with negative thoughts that denote their would be drive, others may have the desire but lack something very critical to this puzzle the psychological makings to turn desire into its physical manifestation.
Much has been said about the brain but little is understood about the brain for majority of us. I say this to help you understand that in order to successful accomplish anything in life you must make sure your computer is properly working and that the software your are running on is compatible with your set out desires. If you want to loose weight have the desire but your brain has not got the message then those old habits will soon catch up with you and you will be trumped by disappointment, the only sure way to assure yourself success is to change your state of mind, reprogram your brain.
Scientific studies have shown that increased activity in any of the five major parts of the brain lead to negative outcomes, from depression, anxiety, obsessiveness, ADD, moodiness, panic, lack of concentration, disorganization, and many other unfavorable behaviors. I am going to focus on one of the five systems in the brain that I believe is very essential to the success of getting fit and shedding weight. The system is known as The Deep Limbic System, this is the part of your brain that is responsible for all your emotions, your sleeping cycles and even (yep you guessed it) your eating cycles. The Deep Limbic systems functions are as follows: sets the emotional tone of the mind, filters external events through internal states(creates emotional coloring), tags events as internally important, stores highly charged emotional memories, modulates motivation, controls appetite and sleep cycles, promotes bonding, directly processes the sense of smell, modulates libido.
The Deep Limbic system lies near the center of the brain, and even though it is only the about the size of a walnut it is packed with multi functions all which are critical to human behavior.
Once you have an understanding of how your mind works, how you remember things, what deters you, what motivates you, you will be able to begin implementing practices and behaviors that can become custom to your lifestyle. This is important because in order to accomplish anything in life you must have a genuine desire, that meets the will and passion for the object.
Knowing the inner workings of your mind just makes sure that you don't leave your success to chance, now you have complete control over your destiny. Going back to the Deep Limbic system, when the deep limbic system is overactive it releases negative impulses causing you to dwell in depressive thoughts which reap depressive behaviors. These behaviors include but are not limited to violent activities, anxiety, stress, over eating, lack of sleep, lack of concentration. Are you starting to see how this all impacts your weight.
I know that the 10 Million Pound challenge is a health and fitness challenge but I strongly believe that in order for it to be successful and beneficial to those who mainly need it, I must instill into you the desire to learn how your brain works first and then take that information and match it up with why your behavior is the way it is, why you choose to eat when your sad or depressed, why you choose to sleep for extended hours throughout the day, why you may choose to harvest negative and unproductive thoughts. Knowing this about yourself can be a Godsend you not only will realize your bad habits but your will understand what's causing them and will be able to take action towards changing them.
